sanbaseki series 三波石釉薬

Since moving to Japan, the Sanbagawa River has been a constant source of inspiration. As part of an ongoing site-responsive practice and interest in how place is experienced and remembered, we created a series of original glazes formulated from locally sourced Sanbaseki stone. This piece was fired for 73 hours in our 2026 spring anagama firing.

*this piece is made from naturally porous clay and is unglazed on the inside. As a result, it is not completely watertight and may allow a small amount of water to seep through or evaporate over time. We recommend using this piece with dried flowers, or placing a saucer or waterproof tray underneath.
